Yerushalayim Shel Zahav, "Jerusalem of Gold" (Hebrew: ירושלים של זהב) was written by Naomi Shemer in 1967, first sung by Shuli Nathan, and later re-interpreted by many artists. The melody of this song was inspired by a Basque lullaby from Spain, named Pello Joxepe, composed by Juan Francisco Petriarena. The lyrics of the song refer to many traditional Jewish poetries and themes, particularly on the topic of people's longing for Jerusalem.
