Just before 6:00pm tonight, the Fort Worth Fire Department Alarm Office received multiple calls for a house fire in the 1200 block of East Cannon Street.
When crews arrived on scene they found a 2-story home with fire already vented through the roof. As firefighters battled the blaze, the fire conditions changed dramatically.
The Incident Commander called for the evacuation tone to be sounded and prepared for defensive operations. The fire extended to a neighboring rv trailer where residents climbed on top with water houses to help keep more flames away.
A “mayday” was called as two firefighters bailed out of a second story window. This emergency situation prompted a second alarm to be declared.
Those two firefights along with one additional firefighter sustained injuries. All three were transported to Parkland Hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
The American Red Cross Greater North Texas was on scene to help one displaced resident with emergency assistance. And the Red Helmets were also on scene to assist with water and snacks for our firefighters.
