As you may already know there are several solutions that allow you to play the Digitakt polyphonically. I just got into this stuff and waw, this is fun! Here is a short jam I made with it. (More info below + link to the resources and sounds I've used)
I personally used a Max MSP patch because my laptop is 10-years old and most recent softwares won't run on it. I tried to build the patch myself but got stuck and got help from the amazing Chapelier Fou. He made a brand new and super-effective patch (thank you man!), go check out his stuff he's an amazing french musician/producer : [ Ссылка ]
You can download the patch here : [ Ссылка ] and you can get Max MSP there : [ Ссылка ] There is a 30-days free trial but I think you can still open patches after the end (you won't be able to save changes though).
Here are some other solutions, I haven't tried them all but they look pretty cool :

Retrokit RK-002 Smart MIDI cable (hardware)

From what I understand they all follow the same logic : each new incoming note is sent to the next MIDI channel. By having your 8 audio tracks set to 8 different MIDI channels, you can play up to 8 notes at the same time.
Give this a try it's really amazing! Turning your "drum computer" into a 8-voice sample-based polyphonic synth with built-in FX/reverb/delay/compressor feels pretty damn good, aha. It's even velocity-sensitive! You can either try to emulate some real instruments (like the flute and Rhodes sounds in the video) or you can go crazy and load some weird vocal samples and rhythmic sequences. This and some random start point/sample slot can make for some cool experimentations. Even the workflow is nice : each pattern correspond to one synth sound with its own effects and level settings. Therefore you have access to 16 independent synth sounds with very few key presses. There are some limitations though, you only have 4 octaves to play with and some sounds won't transpose very well. Anyway here is a little sample pack with all the sounds I used in the video (+ some other) : [ Ссылка ] I recorded some of them from my 0-Coast and guitar, others were found on the interweb.
For this jam I recorded each part separately and did quite a lot of edit and mix in the DAW. I also added reverb and delay to tie everything together. The final mix goes through Kramer MPX, Ozone 5 and L3 Ultramaximizer for mastering.
I hope you liked this one! This is a very nice discovery for me and you'll see more of it on the channel. I'm seriously considering getting an Octatrack and keeping the Digitakt for synth duties! Anyway thank you so much for watching, sorry for the super long description, I'm glad you made it to the end, love,
Aldo
