“Sometime, Somewhere” (Composer: Maestro Ryan Cayabyab/ Original Artist: Mr. Basil Valdez

One of my favorites from Maestro Ryan Cayabyab’s catalog in the 80’s. The song was originally recorded by Mr. Basil Valdez, one of my two most favorite balladeers in the country (Nonoy Zuñiga being the other). The song was part of Basil’s album “Corner of the Sky”, released by Blackgold label in 1981.

Personally, the original arrangement by Mr C still is “THE ONLY" arrangement I could ever imagine for this song. After 39 years, it has remained timeless and really stood the test of time. I asked Mr. C’s permission if I can sing this song, use this arrangement which I only got from youtube, and Thank GOD he permitted.

Friends, whenever I do covers for my music posts, It will always be my homage, salute, and tribute to the composer, the song, and the artist. My reinterpretation stems out from how the song affects me and how I would imagine myself breathing out a new life to the song. I have my utmost respect for the creativity and the artistry of the composition and its interpretation.

Thank you Mr. C, our National Artist for Music, for allowing me to use your song and for sharing with us your gift of music. Mr. Basil Valdez, know that I am a huge fan of yours and this is my way of taking my hats off and bowing down to your eminence in singing. Maraming salamat.
