(15 Oct 1959) After his election triumph, it was widely anticipated that Mr Macmillan would be reconstructing the Government. Mr Heathcoat Amory, Chancellor of the Exchequer, was an early arrival at Number Ten. Also present were: ® the Secretary of State for the Colonies, Mr Lennox-Boyd, Mr Geoffrey Lloyd, Minister of Education, Mr Duncan Sandys, Minister of Defence, the Foreign Secretary, Mr Selwyn Lloyd, the President of the Board of Trade, Sir David Eccles, Lord Hailsham, Mr Iain Macleod, Minister of Labour, and the Leader of the House, Mr Butler. The Prime Minister made a speech before news of the reconstruction.
