Syobon Action, more commonly known as "Cat Mario" or "Mario in Hell" is a Japanese freeware game developed by Chiku in 2007. Syobon Action is known for its very difficult and puzzling level design as it requires the player to think outside the box while being challenged at the same time. Its level design is closely related to that of a Kaizo ROM Hack of Kaizo Mario World but more unfair. The game is purposely designed to cause extreme frustration within the player as the game is very hard and very unfair and requires much trial and error to fully master the game's design, traps, and gameplay. The game has 4 levels and the player seems to have unlimited lives and the life counter goes to negative if the player loses all of their 3 lives. The goal of the game is to beat all 4 levels and save a Japanese melon instead of a princess. The game has been popularized and discovered by a 4chan post and some players called the game's universe/world "4ch".
The game can be played in online browsers in Google.
