Simulated local horizon view from a fixed surface position at the eastern rim of Mare Orientalis on the Moon. Here you can see that there are areas on the moon (at the edge between the nearside and farside) where Earth actually rises and sets above and below the local horizon on the moon. Despite the moon being tidally locked to Earth, due to its libration the Earth wobbles and moves by several degrees in the lunar sky. This is a timelapse video, time progress is 100000x normal speed.
