Jambupathe - Yamuna Kalyani - Muthuswami Dikshitar
Meditative, soulful, energising … we can keep listing the quality of the life giving source - Water.
Sri Muthuswami Dikshitar brings these and many more layers and qualities into his master piece celebrating Appu Linga, signifying one of the five Pancha Bhootas - water.
The sahithya flows like a generous river,
'Nijananda Amrita BoodamDehi'
'Ambudhi Ganga Kaveri Yamuna'
'Panchabhutamaya Prapancha Prabho'
'Sarvajeeva Dayaakara Shambho'
'Sarva Karunarasa Sindho'
'Sharanagata Vatsalarta Bhando' - what more can a devotee ask for!
Every time I see a river or a water body, mind goes to this incomparable Kriti. And I was fortunate to be able to sing and record this at a very beautiful space in Karnataka. We also travelled to Tiruvanaika soon after, where I enjoyed reflecting on this phenomenal composition.
We hope you enjoy the visuals and the music.
I still recollect how Manoj Aithal and Anagha Nadig stood in hip deep water to get this on record. A big thanks to them. Also want to thank Sri Mysore Srikanth for supporting on the Violin.
