Although salons are one the safest places for people to be during the pandemic, many salon owners fail to communicate to customers just how safe it really is. In this episode, Doug and I discuss some tips on how to put salon safety first so that your guests can feel comfortable.
One way that you can instill confidence in your guests is to make sure that you and your staff are wearing masks at all times. It doesn’t take much for guests to start talking about a couple of your staff members not wearing masks. Train your staff and help them to understand that their own income depends on helping guests feel good.
You should also make sure that your staff knows what salon safety guidelines you’ll be following in case of outbreaks. For example, do they know what you’ll do if a guest tests positive? Clients are sure to ask about those guidelines, so having a knowledgeable staff is critical so that they can communicate to customers how exactly you’ll address safety issues. If a client thinks that there’s no plan because the staff member doesn’t know about it, then it can damage trust.
The thing is, safety is one of the biggest concerns for salon guests. If you can show that you are following a set of procedures that will keep your clients safe, then you’ll get more business. There are stylists out there that aren’t following any kind of protocol. If you can communicate to customers that your salon is serious about their health, then you’ll be able to draw guests away from those more relaxed businesses.
If you can show what you’re doing to ensure salon safety, you’ll have confident guests, and confident guests will keep coming back.
