This video is about the new Sound Devices NoiseAssist plug-in for the MixPre II series of field recorders.
During my NoiseAssist testing, I found a significant audio bug with the plug-in, but I also found a fix/workaround for the bug as well.
NoiseAssist continuously monitors background noise to suppresses that background noise in your recordings. For instance, traffic, generators and air conditioning.
NoiseAssist is not meant for wind or cloth rustle caused by using lavalier (Lav) mics. It is meant for constant background noise that can be attenuated during an audio recording.
Only one instance of NoiseAssist can run on any channel, bus L, or bus R.
NOTE #1: Please ensure the new version 7.00 firmware is installed in your MixPre Series II field recorder before installing the NoiseAssist plug-in.
NOTE #2: Sound Devices technical support confirmed a fix for this bug will be included in the next firmware update.
