I'm working on improving the initial startup of the PID running the disc and ultimately the frame locking. I'm modifying the PID parameters on-the-fly when the disc is accelerating, in an effort to avoid overshoot. Here's the first effort. It's doing a pretty good job from standstill. The video being played is Betty Bolton, converted from the a screen capture of the sample playing at [ Ссылка ] and copyright (c)2013 D.F.McLean. THIS is roughly what someone was "looking in" at in the 1930s - a recording from an actual BBC mechanical TV broadcast, played back on a mechanical TV. Pretty cool, that.
You can follow my build of this Arduino Mechanical Television on the NBTV forum at [ Ссылка ]
Portions of video showing the singing lady are from a reconstruction of original 1930s material, produced by, and copyright, Don McLean. I have converted the video to 32 line format, and used a subset only, for demonstration of the video running on my televisor. I believe this falls within "fair use" but to be absolutely clear - such material is still copyright Don McLean and you should visit his amazing website www.tvdawn.com to view the reconstructions in all their glory.
