RTPI Scotland and Scottish Government are working together to gather input from planning professionals about what they think the fourth National Planning Framework should look like and include. As part of the NPF4 engagement programme, RTPI Scotland hosted three free virtual international sessions to discuss best planning practice around the world. These events will bring in speakers to share their experiences from countries who have taken or are taking innovative approaches to planning that could helpfully shape the content and ambitions of NPF4.
Jenny Divine (Policy & Networks Advisor at RTPI and Urban Planner in Melbourne, Australia between 2015 and 2019) and Ian Gilzean (Chief Architect at Scottish Government and Visiting Academic at Melbourne School of Design in 2016) outlined why Melbourne is seen as one of the most liveable cities in the world, touching on policy, place-making and inequalities.
