Unboxing the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, a mid-range smartphone sequel to last year's excellent A52s with similar camera tech but 'upgraded' performance & battery life. Sadly, as my gaming test shows, the Samsung A53 isn't all it's cracked up to be.

You've got an Exynos 1280 chipset in here rather than a Snapdragon, and unfortunately this seems to be a step backwards for games. Genshin Impact really struggled on this thing, although the Galaxy A53 5G did handle lighter titles like Call of Duty Mobile no problem. Battery life could be an improvement however, with a bigger 5000mAh cell inside.
I'll be fully reviewing the Samsung Galaxy A53 so stay tuned for my final thoughts on that, the performance and the camera results. So far I'm happy enough with the photos and video I've shot on this phone, even if the 'Fun Mode' is about as fun as a kick in the nads.
So, if you still have the A52 or A52s, I'd say probably stick with what you have. For everyone else, should you bag yourself the Samsung A53? That review's coming in a week or so, stay tuned :)
