Women go through different conditions after abortions. Bleeding entirely depends on the body and hormonal functioning of the body. Some women face heavy bleeding, whereas some may have light or no bleeding at all. Some women do not bleed immediately, but bleeding may start only after a few days. There is no particular time defined for the bleeding to cease. The after-effects of abortion are not only just bleeding; one may also experience heavy menstrual cramps after two-three weeks after the abortion. If you have recently undergone abortion then it will take at least 6 weeks to get back to your normal periods, avoid taking birth control pills during this period.
Some precautions that can be taken to reduce heavy bleeding are

Avoid driving
Refrain from heavy work
On average, women bleed for 7 -14 days after an abortion with pills. Little to no bleeding would follow after the first few days of intense or heavy bleeding, Some women bleed or pass clots for as long as 4 weeks. If the bleeding lasts longer with no visible symptoms of complications, then it is safe to wait for it to stop on its own.
Consult a doctor if
You have used more than 2 or 3 pads every hour due to excessive bleeding.
