Mackenzie Nicole and producer Seven dive into their stories behind each song from her album "Mystic".
"Every time I listen to the album, I have to emotionally prepare in those few seconds between 'Fun' and 'A Cut Rose In Tap Water'. Because I'm like, 'Okay. Here we go.' Oh God, it hurts. It's rough." Mack says, laughing and sighing at the same time.
"This song was hard for me to listen to, the first time you sent it. I remember when Travis called me and he was freaking out over the song. I had listened to it a few times. We were talking about your writing on the song and everything. I think this was the point where I was like, 'Something has happened to you.' Everybody should be getting better and better. And I say that to say that on this album, your growth as a writer went from a 5 to 105." Seven explains.
"That's the thing with this entire album when it comes to writing. When it came to The Edge I had a cowriter. It was a learning experience, but one that I'm never going to do again in my life, because it was so limiting for me. I'm a writer first. More than music or anything else, writing is what I'm here for. Having my creativity stifled filled me with such rage that I felt like I had to come back 10 fold with Mystic." Mack responds.
