you mentioned that you recently changed your sons formula or just introduced formula and you noticed a change in his bowel habits and this is pretty typical. A baby that's formula fed will have more firm stool and is usually green or in color and babies may go less frequently. like once a day is pretty normal for a formula fed baby. Sometimes it can go 2 or 3 days in between but constipation is not a sign of an allergy in fact diarrhea is what usually happens if a baby is allergic to something. Other signs of allergy include rash, stomach upset and even blood in the stool.
