Pulled by horseman and led by footmen, the coronation carriage passes out of Buckingham Palace gates followed by horse guards and surrounded by crowds. The princess and attendants are seen leaving the carriage and entering a contemporary building entry. The princess and eight female assistants walk in formal procession behind bishops up the aisle of Westminster Abbey, while dignitaries watch from pews and guards attend, and more clergy follow. The Queen proceeds to the throne, people stand and ladies in waiting arrange the Queen's train. Queen Elizabeth sits surrounded by officials and ladies in waiting.
With great ceremony an official presents the crown on a large red velvet cushion. The Queen mother and Princess Margaret, other royalty aristocrats and dignitaries are seated in an overhead pew. The Queen moves into the centre with attending ladies in waiting holding the train of her cloak and wigged officials and clergy proceed forward with much pomp. The Queen and ladies in waiting move to a position in font of a large group of clergy. View of officials and clergy involved in ceremony. On one side of the nave are the ermine adorned aristocrats. Other officials and footmen are present in the church, dressed in livery, robes and wigs.
The Queen curtsies. There is a view of the Queen mother and other royalty. The Bishop of Canterbury in fine vestments bows to the Queen and reads from a book. The Queen is seated at a lectern and a male official holds open a book from which she reads as well. Wide view of the Queen and all main guests, officials and dignitaries as ceremony progresses. An overhead view shows the ladies in waiting removing the red velvet fur-trimmed train from Queen Elizabeth's shoulders. The Queen, flanked by two bishops, follow a man carrying a staff with a cross on top of it. Four dark-robed dignitaries proceed with a gold canopy .They carry the canopy and place in above the seated Queen. An official in robes and surrounded by dignitaries is seen to raise the crown from the red velvet cushion and raise it high above his head then lower it again. Procession of robed officials bring crown forward on the velvet cushion to the throned Queen and the Archbishop. The Archbishop takes the crown from the cushion and with great ceremony places it on Queen Elizabeth II's head, surrounding dignitaries put their hats on their own heads. A staff is raised by an official and all ermine wearing aristocracy put on their headwear. The Queen is on the throne wearing her crown and carrying a staff and is surrounded by clergy and dignitaries. The ermine wearers are filmed. The Queen Mother and Princess Margaret and young Prince Charles are seen with the ladies in waiting. There is a grand overhead view of the crowned queen and dignitaries and guests.
The procession leaves the nave of the abbey, the Queen, wearing an ermine trimmed train which is carried by the female attendants, is followed by footmen, and all proceed past the Queen mother and Princess Margaret and young Prince Charles. The new Queen walks slowly, beside her walk the bishops followed by the ladies in waiting and they pass by all the dignitaries and guests. There is a long view of the procession down the aisle, with guards, footmen and Prince Phillip. Princess Margaret walks down the aisle with cape held by one female attendant.
