1. House flies only consume liquids as food.
Absolutely, that is accurate. Fly diets often consist of liquids. Why? Yes, they are simply constructed that way. You see, they are unable to chew their food, so they must drink it instead.
2. What do house flies consume?
A house fly will regurgitate digestive juices onto solid foods. These liquids will break down the food into small bits, enabling the fly to utilize its proboscis as a mouthpiece to consume the meal.
3. Their feet have taste receptors.
Flies can taste food with their feet, much like butterflies!
This is due to the fact that their lower legs and feet have taste receptors (chemonsensilla). Any tasty food that a fly lands on is considered to be a tasty supper.
4. A variety of diseases can be spread via them.
House flies come into touch with a variety of hazardous bacteria, including Salmonella and E. coli, as a result of their feeding and reproductive behaviors (more on that later). Because of this, house flies frequently contribute to the spread of harmful bacteria by contaminating items like food and cooking equipment and then transferring them on to us.
5. House flies are able to walk backwards.
Let's face it; you were undoubtedly familiar with this. A house fly can walk and climb on most surfaces, whether they are horizontal, vertical, or even upside down, because to its unique anatomy. This is because each foot has two thick footpads, or pulvilli, with microscopic hairs that create a material that resembles glue.
