Significance as a Shelby American GT

The only 1967 Shelby GT convertible built.

The only big block GT convertible built by Shelby American, Inc.

The only Mustang convertible specifically ordered as a Shelby. The four 1966 models built were not ordered by nor built at Shelby American.

The first big block Shelby GT convertible serialized and built.

The only dual-quad carbureted Shelby GT convertible built.

The third GT 500 to be completed. The first was 0100, a Fastback; second was 0131, a Coupe and third was 0139, this convertible.

The first GT 500 to be factory-equipped with the Closed Crankcase Emissions System (smog). Though ordered with it, the first two big block cars did not receive it.

The first GT 500 to be factory-equipped with both the Closed Crankcase Emissions System (smog) and air conditioning. Only 23 of the 1967 GT 500's were so-equipped.

One of two 1967 model year vehicles to be repurposed into "1968 Styling Prototypes" by Shelby American. (ref: Ionia Move Notes - Jobs Yet to be Completed in CA). The other car was an Acapulco Blue Fastback.

Valued at $4,249.76, the convertible was the most expensive GT 500 in Shelby American's company car inventory (ref: Vehicle Fixed Asset Ledger 07/31/1967). This number doesn't include in the additional cost of the prototype '68 styled fiberglass from DST. That was an additional $7,396 which ultimately valued the car at $11,645.76.

Initially assigned to Carroll Shelby as his "personal driver," and often loaned to friends, celebrities and visiting Ford executives. (ref: CSF Vehicle Info)

One of, if not the most photographed and publicized Shelby GT cars ever built. This was the convertible seen on the cover of the press kits, dealer literature and featured in every print ad introducing the 1968 Shelby model line-up.

The only 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible built with an R-code (428 cu.in.) engine.

The only Ford Mustang Convertible to ever receive dual-quad carburetion from the factory.

The first Ford Mustang Convertible to receive an R-Code engine at the factory.

The first R-code Mustang to be factory-equipped with the Closed Crankcase Emissions System.

The first R-code Mustang to receive both the Closed Crankcase Emissions System (smog) and air conditioning.

Recipient of the very first Ford C-6 automatic transmission built, tag # 000001.

The third R-code Mustang to be completed. The first two, a Fastback and a Coupe, were also built for Shelby American.
