Westar on the Road: The Quest for Religious Literacy, is a Wilbur winner in the “Multimedia and Video” category. The Westar Institute is a non-profit, research and educational organization raising the level of public discourse regarding the Christian tradition.
The video explains the work of Westar in bringing together careful New Testament scholars and in-depth research to ask important questions. Who was the historical Jesus? What did he say? What was early Christianity really like? Why does that matter?
This 18-minute documentary travels around the globe with Westar Institute scholars, historians and archeologists as they search for the answers to these big questions in their quest to promote religious literacy.
Our clip explains how important new discoveries in archeology
add to understandings of Jesus and counter anti-Semitism.

Information about the Wilbur Awards
For over 88 years, the Religion Communicators Council (RCC) has helped tell the story at the intersection of faith and the public arena, all the while encouraging understanding and respect among faith groups.
RCC presents the Wilbur Awards to promote and encourage excellence in the communication of religious faith and positive values through a variety of secular media. RCC recognizes the work of individuals and agencies as they communicate about religious issues, values and themes, with professionalism, fairness and honesty. The Wilbur Award, first given in 1949, honors Marvin C. Wilbur, a pioneer in the field of religious public relations. Competition is judged by media professionals in a jury process. The basic criteria of content, creativity, execution and results, apply in the evaluation of each entry. The ultimate criterion is excellence in the communication of religious values.
