Mbatzimuta and Beata run a small shop in southwest Uganda selling cosmetics, candy, and other personal necessities. The couple escaped several years ago from their native Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to Nakivale, the oldest refugee settlement in Africa, and immediately began to hustle to support themselves. With the help of a series of Kiva loans they received and repaid through Field Partner UGAFODE, the enterprising Mbatzimuta and Beata continue to grow their inventory to meet the needs of their refugee community.
