The president of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, arrived in Niamey, the capital city of Niger, amidst much fanfare and anticipation. The majestic presidential aircraft touched down on the tarmac, and as the door opened, Captain Traore stepped out, greeted by a throng of dignitaries and officials.
Leading the welcoming party was the president of the National Council for the Protection of the Fatherland, the head of state, the general of the Brigade, Colonel Abduraman Tchiani. The two leaders exchanged warm greetings and handshakes, signifying the strong diplomatic ties between their nations.
As the motorcade made its way through the streets of Niamey, the people of the city lined the roads, waving flags and cheering enthusiastically, creating an atmosphere of celebration and goodwill. The visit is seen as a testament to the strong bond between the people of Burkina Faso and Niger, and a promising step towards greater cooperation and prosperity in the region.
This visit comes as the heads of states of the Alliance of Sahel States AES have scheduled for their very first ever summit this Saturday July 6, 2024 in the Nigerien capital. This very first summit will bring together delegations from the AES member countries of Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso to discuss issues and challenges common to the three states. Security and defense, the fight against terrorism, economic, cultural and commercial exchanges will be the key points of this AES summit meeting. This meeting will also allow for the consolidation of cooperative relations between the three countries in a dynamic of pooling intelligence and resources to initiate true peace in the AES area and promote inclusive development for the benefit of the peoples of the Sahel.
