The Dragons Back is a series of old red sandstone hills in the Black Mountains of Wales. Situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park, this area of amazing beauty is popular for hiking and wild camping.

My friend Charlie and I set off from the village of Talgarth. We had the intent of hiking and wild camping in the area for three days and doing some bushcraft such as fire building. We hiked along The Dragon's Back then up to the highest peak in the Black Mountains Waun Fach (811m/2661ft) before descending in search of a wild campsite.

We eventually found a suitable place to camp by the Grwyne Fawr Reservoir and spent the night by the water before making our return journey.
