STORYLINE
Serbs in Pale are frustrated with constant failed operations of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) troops to arrest most wanted Bosnian fugitive Radovan Karadzic.
"We really do not see any effects of this anymore. They are just harassing and frustrating the family of Karadzic, which was cooperative with them in the past," said Dragan Malic resident of Pale and Sonya Karadzic's neighbour.
European Union forces and NATO troops searched the homes of the family members of Bosnia's most wanted war crimes suspect Radovan Karadzic on Friday, looking for leads which may reveal his whereabouts, officials said.
Troops begun the search at 05:00 local time simultaneously at the homes of Karadzic's wife, Ljiljana, daughter Sonja and son Alexandar, also called Sasha.
"The aim of the operation is to look for materials and information relevant for the support network of Radovan Karadzic," said Major David Fielder, a spokesman for EUFOR, the European Union Force, at the site.
Ljiljana Zelen-Karadzic lives in the house of her sister, while Sonja and Alexandar live with their own families in apartment buildings in the wartime
Bosnian Serb stronghold of Pale, about 16 kilometres (10 miles) east of Sarajevo.
Bosnian Serb police officers were also at the site and helping EUFOR and NATO troops, Fielder said.
Karadzic and Ratko Mladic, his military commander, were indicted by the United Nations war crimes tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands, for genocide and other crimes, including the 1995 slaughter of up to 8,000 Muslim men and boys at Srebrenica.
Both have been evading justice for the last 11 years thanks to a network of supporters who keep financing and otherwise facilitating their hiding.
Mladic is believed to be hiding in Serbia, while there have been no hints about Karadzic's whereabouts for years.
Karadzic's home in Pale, as well as the homes of his children, were raided on many occasions when documents and other material were
seized and his family members were questioned.
None of those raids nor interrogations resulted in Karadzic's arrest.
