Many of rugs and rug pads that damaged wood floors are imported. These overseas poor quality products are made with PVC and plastic which contain chemicals. Chemicals such as oils, Phthalates, clay fillers or adhesives that react with the chemicals in your floor finish casing floor stains, fading, and discoloration. These products and the combination of chemicals off gas creating High VOC’s which after a short time result in the floor staining. Furthermore many of these products produce odor and can be toxic. Not all stains are caused by the rug chemical reactions; some can be caused heat, sunlight, pet urine, high humidity, candle burning and more. Do not use carpets and rugs over your nice wood floors.
