South Africa has an estimate of nearly 300 Lion Breeding farms. These farms are used for canned hunting, captive hunting, trophy hunting and the lion bone trade.
Due to the endangered status of the Tiger . The ever growing Asian demand for Tiger other big cat species are being targeted. Not only has South Africa agreed to fill the demand it has increased the annual export quota on lion bone trade to 1500 in 2018.
Lion bones are being sold to the end consumer as Tiger bones.
Despite the farms fuelling the demand the wild lion is being poached from the wild. Poaching has been defined as the illegal hunting or capturing of wild animals.
Will Africas Lions face the same fate as the tigers ?
