Renato Sanches dismisses Portugal critics after showing Manchester United what they're missing
The 18-year-old who snubbed a move to Old Trafford earlier this summer put in a man-of-the-match display as Portugal reached their fourth semi in five Euros
Teenager Renato Sanches showed Manchester United what they have missed out on with a man-of-the-match performance as Portugal moved into the semi-finals of Euro 2016 .
Sanchez , who has joined Bayern Munich in a deal that could net Benfica £63million after United decided he wasn't worth the money, fired home a sensational equaliser for Fernando Santos' team after his new club team-mate Robert Lewandowski had put Poland ahead after just 100 seconds.
Then the 18-year-old, who is the youngest player to start a game at the tournament, kept his cool in the penalty shoot-out with a clinical strike as Portugal moved into the semis for the fourth time in their last five Euros.
Portugal edged it when Rui Patricio saved Jacub Blaszczykowski's penalty and Ricardo Quaresma kept his nerve to score from 12 yards.
Sanches said: “It is a wonderful moment for the team.
“People criticise us but we don’t care, because we are in the semis.
“We have been working very hard and we have been doing our best.
“It is a lot of hard work to be this lucky. Sometimes we are bound to be lucky because we have worked so very hard.
