A DEFORM-3D simulation modeled an aluminum cup that was spun using a single-roller flowforming process.
Product: DEFORM Premier; DEFORM-3D
Summary:
Flowforming is a class of spinning processes used to covert a starting blank or preform into a finished shape. The workpiece is commonly clamped between a spinning mandrel and tail stock while being deformed by one or more rollers.
DEFORM offers a range of solution methods for the analysis of spinning processes. In the spun aluminum cup example shown, an implicit ALE method provided results that were in good agreement with physical experiments.
