Why do coffee shops tend to fail more than any other business?
Well the food and beverage industry is always the most riskiest of ventures. However, I find many many people have dreams and aspirations to open coffee shops for one reason or another. Maybe they have a love for a coffee or believe that it can be a lifestyle business where they don't have to work as hard as a restaurant. I've heard it all before and while the passion is there its generally not the reality of this business.
How to start a cafe is the first question people ask themselves but then they get tied up with how the place will look or the beans they will source. Rather than focusing on the financing needed or the estimated costs needed to renovate.
Don't get me wrong starting a cafe can be a very exciting time and I'm not trying to sway anyone from following that passion. Rather trying to gear them with some information and common mistakes to avoid.
