In Marion County, Florida deputies arrested a First-Grade teacher on two counts of possession of a controlled substance. On April 12, 2022, the school resource officer was notified by school administrators that the teacher, Hiromi Adams, was exhibiting concerning behavior. A search of the restroom connected to Adams' classroom revealed a prescription pill bottle with Adams' name on it; however, the medication was not inside. Instead, the pill bottle contained a red straw, half of a green pill, and a small plastic baggie of a green powdery substance.
Adams was located off-campus and taken into custody. Sadly, the agency does not have camera footage of the arrest. This video depicts the investigation and actions taken by the SRO.
Adams completed the requirements of the Marion County Felony Diversion Drug Court Program in accordance with Florida State Law. As a result, the charges were dismissed.
