The Mapo Hall, Ibadan, is a colonial-style building constructed by Welsh engineer Robert Jones about a century ago. It was modeled after St George's Hall in Liverpool and erected on a 5,969-acre plot of land bordered by roadways. Construction cost £24,000 at the time.
The hall has witnessed the crowning of 24 new rulers in the land of Ibadan. There are also portraits of all Ibadan Kings (Olubadans) who have ruled the city.
Over the years, the hall has also hosted important political and social meetings, helping to shape Nigeria's socio-political scene.
