In this video I show how to winterize a 2 stroke jetski, a step by step procedure, and also show the materials you need to be prepared to winterize your ski. The description below will help guide you through what I feel are the most important steps you need to follow each year when storing your ski til next season.

Winterizing A 2 Stroke Jetski | Best Recommended Steps

1. Treat your fuel with marine fuel stabilizer to full capacity, if only storing til next season, top off your fuel tank with higher octane fuel to help prevent moisture in the tank. (Or) Extract all of the fuel in your fuel tank if storing for more than 1 year. If you store your ski for more than 1 year, remove your fuel cap and fuel exit line on your fuel filter, turn your fuel switch to “on” and “reserve” separately, blow the fuel in your filter back to the tank on each line before you suck out your fuel. Then reinstall your fuel cap, doing this empties the fuel in your fuel hoses into the tank.
2. Lube all of your cables front and rear to help with corrosion especially in salt water areas or if used in salt water. Lube up all of the accessible moving parts of the cables. Corrosion can form on the cables just in storage.
3. Pinch the water supply inlet hose that splits off of your flush hose distribution fitting and goes to your pump with hose clamp pliers, this prevents antifreeze treatment from running straight out of the ski onto the ride plate.
4. Hook up your flush hose adapter to the flush fitting in the ski.
5. Use a suitable funnel, hold it tight to or inside the flush adapter and pour in RV and Marine antifreeze slowly just so you have a decent amount of antifreeze in the system.
6. Remove the spark plug wires, put them on the grounding posts or hang them outside the ski(to prevent sparking fuel vapors), remove the spark plugs and carb fogging access cover, spray fogging oil into all openings trying to evenly distribute it.
7. Reinstall spark plugs and carb fogging cap, leave spark plug wire ends outside the ski or on the grounding posts.
8. Turn fuel switch to “on” or “reserve” if you’re leaving fuel in your tank. If you have emptied your tank leave fuel switch off.
9. Hold throttle wide open, install lanyard, turn engine over for a few seconds, no more than 5 seconds, to distribute fogging oil, antifreeze, and stabilized fuel.
10. Reinstall spark plug wires, turn fuel switch off, and remove lanyard.
11. Remove battery and put on a charger or battery maintainer while in the off season, treat the battery terminals with Vaseline or grease to prevent corrosion, and remove the hose pinchers on the water inlet line from the antifreeze treatment.
12. Spray the whole inside of the ski with silicone spray and be sure to treat any component that looks chalky, dry, or slightly corroded, rub in any excess by hand.
13. Reinstall the seats, treat them with vinyl conditioner/ cleaner, remove the hull drain plugs, install a custom fitted cover, and store the ski w/ nose raised so water or rain will drain off and out of the ski.
