On Thursday 16th February 2017 we welcomed Cabinet Secretary for Health, Well-being and Sport, Vaughan Gething AM to celebrate and formally open the new Peripheral MRI Scanner.
The Peripheral Scanner (also known as an extremity MRI scanner) allows for patients to position their arm or leg to be scanned, rather than for the whole body to go into the scanner.
This provides for a better patient experience, particularly for patients that feel claustrophobic in a standard MRI, it also enables children to have their limbs scanned without the need for sedation.
