Natel's hydropower turbine design is unique in that it is both safe for downstream fish passage and very efficient. Natel Energy designs FishSafe™ RHTs in a variety of site-specific sizes, optimizing for installations up to 40m in hydraulic head. The Freedom Falls RHT is the smallest RHT that Natel has installed, and it is rated to produce 35 kW of power at about 5 m of head.
The Natel RHT is well-suited to re-powering existing non-powered dams like the one at the Freedom mill. It is also a good fit for upgrading older powered dams with a new turbine that is both FishSafe™ and more efficient.
