This year, we’re seeing more of an Influenza B strain circulating. The publicly available vaccine does not cover one type of influenza B, but offers protection against influenza A. While it’s still too early to tell how effective the flu shot is this year, we know it provides some protection and the benefits of being vaccinated far outweigh the alternative- which is risking catching the flu and spreading it to those who are more vulnerable.
