Cutting or trimming your own bangs doesn’t need to end with uneven or inadvertently short bangs. While we always advocate seeing a hairstylist for major hair changes, these tips will help you save your pennies when a simple bang trim is in order.

You will need: A fine-tooth comb and a pair of hair shears (available at any beauty supply store).

Steps:
1.Part hair in the middle.
2.Separate the hair you want to cut. Tip: starting near your hairline will give you wispy bangs. Starting further back will give you thicker bangs.
3. Separate “bang” section into three pieces. The middle piece will make up the majority of your bangs and the side sections will frame.
4. Start in the middle section and comb through from behind.
5.Adjust the comb to sit at the length you want your bangs. Tip: start longer than you think, you can always cut more!
6. Cut straight across beneath the comb.
7. Hold the shears vertically and lightly cut to soften the edges.
8. Move on to your outer sections and cut at a diagonal angle to meet your middle section.
9. Vertically cut into diagonal sections to soften as well.
