David King of Desert Dragon Yoga dropped by Agave Farms to teach Urban Farming Education about Qigong (Internal Exercise). David talks a little about the origins of Qigong and how it came into his life. In this video David demonstrates a Beginner-Friendly Qigong sequence called the 12 Nerve Exercises.
Simply put, Internal Exercises are a part of an
ancient science that was the foundation for
Traditional Chinese Medicine. Internal Exercises
are the tools upon which man can use to create
optimal health and increase overall longevity.
There are three categories of Internal Exercise:
‣ Those designed to correct bodily functions.
‣ Unify an individuals body, mind and breath.
‣ Strong, energy breathing techniques.
2,000 years ago a monk from the West came
into the White Horse Temple in China
during the Han Dynasty to study
Taoism. His name was Dharma. His
book, The Text of Altering Nerves, was
the result of his life’s work. Here is
where we will begin. Strengthening the
nervous system by learning a sequence
of exercises he left behind.
David King is one of the teachers for the "Yoga at Agave Farms" class series that has been happening on Saturday mornings at 10 AM.
