Christianity and Idols, an intermingled love story. The Second Council of Nicea was held at the Hagia Sophia (Holy Wisdom) church in modern day Iznik, Turkey (turkiye).
The main debate of the time was if images & idols should be allowed in the church and what idols actually represented. With Constantine V being a very pro iconoclasm, it was no easy feet. The church is now a mosque, but paintings in the back rooms still show the time when Christianity ruled its walls.
Also, a Iznik as a place to visit and the Roman Empires gates and walls that ares till up today. Also my overall thoughts on Turkish people and Turkey in general.
