Coral reefs only cover 1% of the ocean floor, but they support 25% of all marine life. These critical ecosystems also offer a number of benefits like coastal protection, susbsitence, jobs and livelihoods for local communities. However, climate change is worsening a confluence of events that is killing coral reefs faster than they can rejuvenate. The Nature Conservancy is committed to protecting 30% of our coral and shellfish reefs over the next decade.
