Dr. M H Sharada - Mukhwas

MUKHWAS

Ingredients

1 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
1 teaspoon carom seeds
1 teaspoon poppy seeds
1 teaspoon grated dried coconut
2 teaspoons finely chopped almonds
1 teaspoon ghee
1 teaspoon edible gum crystals (gond)
2 teaspoons powdered sugar

Method

1. Dry roast fennel seeds, sesame seeds, carom seeds, poppy seeds, coconut and almonds till fragrant. Remove from heat and transfer into a bowl.
2. Heat ghee in the same pan. Add gum crystals and sauté till it puffs up. Transfer in a mortar and crush with a pestle.
3. Add the crushed gum crystals to the roasted spice mixture and mix well. Add powdered sugar and mix well. Cool completely.
4. Store in an air tight container.
