Returning after recovering from injury, pacer Ellyse Perry shined with the ball picking up the first three West Indies wickets during the run-chasel. She conceded only 19 runs in her 10 overs and was well supported by Lisa Sthalekar who choked the runs with her tight off-spinners. That helped them defend a total of 259.
While Australia were expected to reach the final, they had to face a surprise opponent in the form of West Indies, whose inspired run in the tournament was a treat for the fans.
After being the last team to qualify from the group stages, the girls from the Caribbean won three straight matches in the Super Six stage, including a close game against Australia, to qualify for the final.
