Welcome to day 7 of my 25 Days of Jerry! Each day I will post some sort of Jerry goodness, whether it be a complete solo, rhythm part, transcription, or anything else I can think of.

Today we've got a great solo on "West L.A. Fadeaway" from July 19, 1989 at Alpine Valley Music Theatre, near East Troy, Wisconsin. This selection appears on the DVD "Downhill From Here," although the majority of that video is from July 17, 1989.

The Grateful Dead first performed "West L.A. Fadeaway" on August 28th, 1982, and later recorded it for their 1987 album In The Dark. The song is a blues-oriented tune about the slimy underbelly of Los Angeles.

There has been speculation over the years that "West L.A. Fadeaway" was initially written as a tribute to actor and comedian John Belushi, who famously died in March of 1982 at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. Belushi had been a longtime friend of the band.
