As part of their 2021 ‘virtual’ winter programming, the Ohio State University Extension Beef Team was privileged to host University of Kentucky Livestock Marketing Specialist Kenny Burdine via ZOOM on January 26th. During his presentation Burdine detailed why, beyond simply trying to sell more pounds for more dollars, cattlemen needed to keep in mind the value of post-weaning programs, find ways to capture the benefits of uniformity in calf size, and do the little things that can each add more value to a calf. To summarize, in this portion of his presentation that evening Burdine concludes by saying, “You’ve got to be better than average year in and year out.”
