M2 GT: Carbon package and performance parts for the new BMW M2
It was just a few weeks ago that the specialists at Alpha-N Performance gave an already pretty
substantial preview of two re-interpretations of the brand new BMW G87 M2. Now their vision of the
“M2 GT” has become reality: The first of these vehicles is already on the German roads!
BMW’s specialists from Rheinbach, Germany, tailored a beautiful carbon aerodynamics kit to the
M2, which already has a decidedly masculine look fresh from the factory, effectively accentuating
the muscular proportions of the twin-turbo coupé even more. Furthermore, the exposed carbon
fiber – which has a clearcoat finish in numerous places – adds skillful, strongly contrasting high-
tech elements with the alpine white M2 body.
According to its builders, the M2 GT was designed as a reminder of great BMW sports models from
1994/1995: the M3 GT with only 350 units and the 318is Class II sedans. The M2 GT created by
Alpha-N shares the name affix with the former, while both 1990s sports models were the godfathers
when it comes to the large-format, character-defining rear wing: A mighty “Class III” carbon spoiler
crowns the rear of the M2 GT, with two additional Gurney flaps made of plastic.
But first, let’s take a look at the front of the M2 GT: Alpha-N has given the M2 an even more
dynamic look thanks to a three-part front spoiler with an adjustable splitter as well as shimmering
BMW carbon radiator grille inserts... all signs point to the racetrack! This is also down to the
completely new V4 carbon fender gills, which sport striking carbon-fiber louvers on top and
shimmering blades behind the wheels. The partially painted engine hood with an integrated air
outlet makes no secret of the material it is made of: The carbon fiber lip is impossible to miss. This
impressive arsenal of carbon elements is rounded off by an ample rear diffuser that would also look
good on a thoroughbred GT race car.
The extensive carbon underbody that calms the airflow under the car and the carbon brake dust
protection elements behind the large wheels are only visible upon closer inspection, but they have
a big effect.
As for the wheels, Alpha-N opted for ultra-lightweight LT3 one-piece rims from Edelweiss, which
measure 10.5″x20″ at the front and 11.0″x21″ at the rear on the M2 GT. The LT3 in the Champagne
custom paint finish go wonderfully with the high-contrast bodywork. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S
tires measure 285/30R20 on the steering axle and 305/25R21 on the drive axle.
As a longstanding partner of Öhlins, Alpha-N has naturally drawn on the technological prowess of
the Swedish performance specialists, who operate a German branch with a Distribution & Test
Center at the Nürburgring: Their Road & Track suspension offers numerous adjustment options and
also features adjustable camber plates.
To the left of the M sports steering wheel, Alpha-N has integrated a CANchecked display into the
dashboard, which provides the driver with a wealth of interesting additional information – with the
option of logging it as well.
In addition to all parts installed on the M2 GT, Alpha-N Performance is also offering several
new BMW G87 M2 vehicles in various colors that are converted at the customer’s request
and then handed over as complete vehicles.
