On Nov. 9, 2018, for the first time, Jennifer Young— mother of Xavier Young, a 14-year-old gunshot victim from Laurel, MD, who passed away at Johns Hopkins Hospital, heard her son’s heartbeat in Gwendolyn Ihm, a 13-year-old girl who received Xavier’s heart on Nov. 1, 2017.
