This video was recorded during an add-on to my "Golden Circle" tour with Arctic Adventures (this is not a sponsored video), in Iceland.
We had the chance to drive snowmobiles on the Langjökul Glacier. The snowmobiles, gear, and guide worked for Snowmobile.is.
Langjökull means "Long Glacier". It stretches over 950 Km2 (367 sq. miles), and its highest peak is about 1,400 m above sea level (about 4,600 feet).
The Langjökull Glacier is the second largest Glacier in Iceland, and Europe, and has two volcanic systems below it.
The largest glacier in Iceland (and Europe) is Vatnajökull, which has 8,099 Km2 (3,127 square miles). That is almost ten times larger than Langjökull. Check out my video "Hiking in the Vatnajökull Glacier” (to be posted soon) to see Vatnajökull. Unlike Langjökull, Vatnajökull is covered in ashes.
