During this webinar, Dr. Yasser Elsayed and Dr. Shyamala Dakshinamurti from the Winnipeg Children's Hospital will discuss 3 interrelated programs:
integrated evaluation of hemodynamics (management of compromised cardiovascular performance and circulatory shock)
integrated evaluation of respiratory physiology (management of hypoxemic respiratory failure and lung protective strategies)
integrated evaluation of neurophysiology and brain protective strategies in sick infants

Understand how to integrate clinical assessment, advanced bedside monitoring of cardiovascular, respiratory and cerebral functions by relying on the following to formulate a physiologic based medical recommendation:
Vital trends and histograms
Doppler
Ultrasound
Near infrared spectroscopy
EEG
Recognize the evidence supporting the physiologic based approach, and its impact on short term clinical recovery and long term protection of neurological and lung development.
Presenters:
Dr. Yasser Elsayed, MD, PhD, is an assistant professor, staff neonatologist, and registered echo-cardiologist. At the University of Manitoba, he established the innovative Neonatal Hemodynamics program, the first North American to successfully integrate ultrasound, echocardiography, and NIRS, and optimize the management of critically ill newborn infants. He has conducted 12 international workshops in neonatal hemodynamic physiology, echocardiography and different applications of ultrasound in Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, USA, Oman, Kuwait, and UAE, and another eight related Canadian National workshops, plus seven local workshops in Winnipeg. He has published the impact of this approach on neonatal outcomes in multiple articles.
Dr. Shyamala Dakshinamurti is a neonatologist and biomedical researcher in the field of hypoxia physiology and persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn.
