The 2020 Billboard Music Awards nominees are finally here, ahead of the ceremony's rescheduled October 14th ceremony.
Originally slated for April 29th of this year, the awards were postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. It's not yet clear how the 2020 ceremony will work, but Kelly Clarkson will continue her hosting duties for the third year in a row. It's safe to expect a mix of live and pre-recorded segments, if the Emmys, VMAs, and BET Awards are anything to go by. But can anything virtual top 2019, when BTS had so many iconic moments (including but not limited to: their group hugs, a glimpse of Jin's RJ, and the JoBros serenading BTS)? We'll see.
Billboard rolled out the nominees for this year on Tuesday morning (September 22), and some of your faves are likely in the mix. For its Top Artist category, the BBMAs nominated Billie Eilish, Jonas Brothers, Khalid, Post Malone, and Taylor Swift. And for the Top Billboard 200 album, the nominees include When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (Billie Eilish); thank u, next (Ariana Grande); Free Spirit (Khalid); Hollywood's Bleeding (Post Malone); and Lover (Taylor Swift). It's hard to believe we're still in an eligibility year with some of these albums, but hey, time is a construct.
