How to instantly create an ambient soundscape/drone on the Korg Volca FM tutorial:

1. Choose any preset (however, some will sound better than others)
2.Turn the carrier decay somewhere between 30 and maximum.
3. Hold the root note of the scale of choice in 2 octaves for 4 bars. This makes a drone.
4. Add another note or 2 in the sequence for some movement.
5. Increase the attack of the carrier to greater than 30.
6. Slow the tempo to about 10 to 30 BPM.
7. Tweak the modulator attack/decay to your liking. Lower velocity to reduce harshness.

Some of these techniques can be used with any synthesizer but the way the Volca FM just makes it so easy.
