Join Kiwi Princess Wears Hiking Boots on the alternate 2 Day Tongariro Alpine Crossing - our preferred way, offeringa unique overview of the Tongariro National Park. From Waihohonu car park you can scan across the lunar landscape from Mt Ruapehu, Mt Ngauruhoe (aka Mt Doom) and Mt Tongariro. Emerging from the Rangipo Desert you’ll join the crowds as you get to feast on the dramatic Red Crater & Emerald Crater Lakes before taking a 2 hour detour up to Mt Tongariro itself. Here you’ll encounter sail-cracking winds while you grab some gob-smacking views including the Central and Southern Craters and Sacred Blue Lake.
